ABOUT DAN GRIFFEY

dan

I was born and raised in Allyn, Washington. I married my childhood sweetheart Dinah and we have 3 beautiful daughters- Alyssa, Megan and Sarah, a wonderful son-in-law Jeff, a grandson William and a granddaughter Annabelle. Community means everything to us and you will frequently find us working on projects together. Dinah serves on the North Mason school board and offers great insights into the needs our students are facing.

Our family is close. We enjoy camping and hiking in our local forests and can’t get enough of the outdoors. We enjoy riding quads, target practicing and the SEAHAWKS! Jeff and I have a blast rebuilding cars and always have a project or two that we are working on. Dinah and our daughters are always up to something and the grandkids go everywhere with us.

My passion for helping out our neighbors began with my parents as they brought me with them to many events, fundraisers and projects that needed people to get involved in order to succeed. I was just a little guy but it made quite the impression on me and at 16 I began volunteering for our local fire department. I was allowed to respond to calls from school and my teachers encouraged me and even wanted updates. I won’t lie- it was a lot of work but it was also a lot of fun. There is nothing that compares to joy you feel when you are able to make a difference in someone’s life. I then went on to become one of the youngest EMTs in WA. State.

I think if you have faith in kids to do the right thing and give them the opportunities, you will be amazed by the results. I believe it is our job to encourage them and to give them the tools they will need to succeed along with the experiences that will help them achieve their goals.

It is an honor to serve you in the Washington State Legislature. I am the assistant ranking member on the Local Government Committee and serve on the Education and Public Safety committees as well. I was also appointed as an assistant minority whip. Making a positive difference in the lives of our citizens is an amazing job and I am happy to work for you.
